If you like the themes in Tokyo Ghoul, you'll really want to watch this anime. I was sucked in right from the beginning.
We all love a good opening song. It gives us the feel of the anime and gets us pumped. Everyone that has watched Tokyo Ghoul knows that opening just with the first sung note.
So just like Tokyo Ghoul, Ajin has a very catchy, interesting opening song that gives you a feeling of anticipation and excitement.
It's like that feeling of "yes, I want to see what this anime is about because this song is great! It seems that it's normal to feel apathetic and uncaring because some of us lack the social cues necessary to be an empathetic person.
The idea of being "cold and calculating" has become a normal thing in society. So, it's easy to feel like you can relate to the main character as he struggles with the lack of empathy many humans have.
Tokyo Ghoul, as well, has a main character that one can relate to. However, on an emotional level he is vastly different from Ajin's main character.
Which is the opposite for Ajin's main character. Kei, in Ajin, begins as nearly emotionless to an individual trying desperately to care for other human beings after experiencing unspeakable horrors.
He goes from being a "jerk" as his sister calls him, to an individual that wants so badly to be compassionate and loving. The action in both anime is amazing.
There's never really a dull moment. It's really neat to see other worldly creatures go into hand to hand combat. And the fact that many characters in Ajin do not stay dead adds an interesting element into the mix.
And finally, one of the main reasons I love these anime is the reoccurring theme of moral ambiguity. There are horrible, inhumane things done to human-like creatures, Ajin and Ghouls alike.
There is prejudice against the unknown. And let's be honest, these are things we face in the real world. Society has a habit of fearing the unknown and judging people that are seen as "different".
So, we find ourselves caught up in this ethical debate: should they die or live Ghoul, Ajin, and humans alike.
We want to fight against those wronging the main character but also struggle internally with whether it is right or wrong to actually kill a human being no matter how terrible they are.
All in all, this is an intriguing anime. I love these kind of dark, thought provoking anime. So if you're in the mood to question your morals, these anime are very good for that kind of thing.

Both have dark themes and are centred around the protagonist becoming something inhuman. There are a lot of other parallels, such as side characters acting similarly strong female side character and a human best friend , but Ajin manages to hold its own as a series.
It arguably does a lot of things better than Tokyo Ghoul, though many overlook its potential as a story and series for its unique animation, but the CGI in Ajin is high quality, and is among the top uses of CGI I've ever seen in anime.
These series are very similar. If you loved Tokyo Ghoul, I'm sure you'll love Ajin. Both series have "Demi-Human" or Demonic Creatures in them, thus keeping a relatively dark atmosphere.
This really gives both anime's good tones. The MC's both share physical and mental traits as well. Which makes it that much better to recommend.

For me this series does everything right where the Anime version of Tokyo Ghoul failed. I like both of them. Both series are good and unique in there own way but Ajin was in part inspired by Tokyou ghoul this is why Ajin reminds you of Tokyo Ghoul.

First off, in both Shingeki no Kyojin and Tokyo Ghoul humans are hunted and eaten. Whether it be, swallowed whole or ripped to pieces and then eaten.
The male protagonists in both animes are sort of similar in a way. Even though in the beginning Kaneki doesn't really fit the pissed off, fiery passion Eren has, they are still similar in some ways.
This recommendation is really obvious to me. Attack on Titan has much better animation and a more addicting story.
However, I found Tokyo Ghoul's characters and themes to be more compelling. Tokyo Ghoul is also a little more mature and has more elements of horror.
Be warned, for AoT has a few pacing issues, and Tokyo Ghoul season 2 is quite divisive. I just feel like these two anime go hand in hand.

In both shows the main character ends up becoming one of the enemy due to someone close to them. The main characters also become incredibly strong because of their transformations.
Lastly, in both shows the enemies eat human flesh and are hard to kill. They both have like it or not dumb protagonist with witty friends.
For some peculiar reason Tokyo ghoul reminded me of AOT. Both are dark and suspensful with an amazing characters.

Similar type of enemy. Ghouls are only in Tokyo, Japan I might be wrong which isolates Tokyo from the rest of Japan and the world with dealing with ghouls.
Kaneki eats Jason and Eren tears open Annie's neck, almost devouring her. Kaneki was mentally and physically abused by his mother and Eren brutally killed two kidnappers, saving Mikasa.
Touka acts like a mean, stubborn friend who might have feelings for Kaneki. Both animes are in a fantastic world with magic creatures but they have a good anime script, everything makes sense in the end, they are more serious than other animes.

I've never really watched any of these, but I do know some and I've gotta say, I just really fell in love with anime and i'm looking for more and more.

I'm gonna start watching Terra Formars, even tho it looks kinda old but i know all the others already.
Ajin I didn't watched it all it was stilll updating at the time and i lost it i tried getting into it again but didn't really worked out. I want the same real and the share of pain in my life but none of these have that pain of suffering as my life I want to relate.
Watched Pyscho Pass and Parasyte so far, I enjoyed psycho pass alot as it poses a great deal of thoughtful questions on the justice system.
Parasyte has that grusome and bloody action fighting similar to TG. When wanting to watch a "similar anime to Tokyo Ghoul" I want more than a similar story.
I want that whole supernatural fantasy demon weapon stuff that's in TG, Parasyte was a perfect in that sense, but none of the other animes are really "similar".
I really enjoyed Akame ga kill! What about Black Butler, Death Note? Those are all amazing animes. It is a Devil Butler after all.
Erix Huhuhuhu, yeah, I wish they'd continue the Deadman Wonderland anime series. I've finished reading it a long time ago. Kiseijuu Parasyte Maxim was such a masterpiece!
Also if you end up watching Deadman Wonderland be sure to read the manga the series is really good! Sadly it didnt get a season 2 back then.

It gives us the feel of the anime and gets us pumped. Everyone that has watched Tokyo Ghoul knows that opening just with the first sung note. So just like Tokyo Ghoul, Ajin has a very catchy, interesting opening song that gives you a feeling of anticipation and excitement.
It's like that feeling of "yes, I want to see what this anime is about because this song is great! It seems that it's normal to feel apathetic and uncaring because some of us lack the social cues necessary to be an empathetic person.
The idea of being "cold and calculating" has become a normal thing in society. So, it's easy to feel like you can relate to the main character as he struggles with the lack of empathy many humans have.
Tokyo Ghoul, as well, has a main character that one can relate to. However, on an emotional level he is vastly different from Ajin's main character.
Which is the opposite for Ajin's main character. Kei, in Ajin, begins as nearly emotionless to an individual trying desperately to care for other human beings after experiencing unspeakable horrors.
He goes from being a "jerk" as his sister calls him, to an individual that wants so badly to be compassionate and loving.
The action in both anime is amazing. There's never really a dull moment. It's really neat to see other worldly creatures go into hand to hand combat.
And the fact that many characters in Ajin do not stay dead adds an interesting element into the mix. And finally, one of the main reasons I love these anime is the reoccurring theme of moral ambiguity.
There are horrible, inhumane things done to human-like creatures, Ajin and Ghouls alike. There is prejudice against the unknown.
And let's be honest, these are things we face in the real world. Society has a habit of fearing the unknown and judging people that are seen as "different".
So, we find ourselves caught up in this ethical debate: should they die or live Ghoul, Ajin, and humans alike. We want to fight against those wronging the main character but also struggle internally with whether it is right or wrong to actually kill a human being no matter how terrible they are.
All in all, this is an intriguing anime. I love these kind of dark, thought provoking anime. So if you're in the mood to question your morals, these anime are very good for that kind of thing.

It arguably does a lot of things better than Tokyo Ghoul, though many overlook its potential as a story and series for its unique animation, but the CGI in Ajin is high quality, and is among the top uses of CGI I've ever seen in anime.

This recommendation is really obvious to me. Attack on Titan has much better animation and a more addicting story. However, I found Tokyo Ghoul's characters and themes to be more compelling.
Tokyo Ghoul is also a little more mature and has more elements of horror. Be warned, for AoT has a few pacing issues, and Tokyo Ghoul season 2 is quite divisive.

Similar type of enemy. Ghouls are only in Tokyo, Japan I might be wrong which isolates Tokyo from the rest of Japan and the world with dealing with ghouls.
