Good story with a decent amount of gore. One heckuva creepy film! If you don't like clowns because they scare you, then this one will give you nightmares It'll make your flesh crawl.

Without giving away any of the plot, just, be aware that this one is not for the squeamish. It goes beyond the realm of PG13 horror.

This one should have been rated NC Writers Christopher Ford and Jon Watts did an amazing job turning a goofy premise into a serious horror film.

This isn't a parody played for jokes Boundaries are broken here, and you definitely walk away feeling like you've seen something fresh and new.

If you have a fear of clowns or enjoy horror clown movies this is for you. This movie is a low key released movie that didnt get the attention it deserved.

You really have to watch it. Not a bad little horror movie. Even impressed my best friend, who is the ultimate horror critic.

Thought it would be awful based on the premise of a man who can't get a clown suit to come off, but it held my interest.

Delivery was fast. Shame it is Italian! Report abuse. Let's face it, we've all had that moment when we see a great ''fake'' trailer on Youtube and immediately think: ''Whoa, this would make such a cool movie!

The perfect proof of this is the movie version of ''Clown''. Yes, the faux-trailer was creepy and interesting. But does the minute version live up to the viral hype?

In a word - No. The plot remains thread-bare throughout and the ''I can't take it off'' storyline gets old really, really fast.

Furthermore, the lack of any interesting Special Features reinforces my non-recommendation if you are looking to purchase this release. Thankfully, my Blu-ray player could get rid of this disc faster than the main character could take off the clown suit!

I still like some of Kevin Spacey's work although American Beauty just isn't owner's material to me, even with being a decent but bizzare one.

On that note, if you like killer clown movies but don't mind bloodless murders, check this one out, you just might like it. If you can find it, that is.

One person found this helpful. I was quite impressed with it. The plot: A young boy has been frightened by circus clowns since he was three years old.

His older brother, 14, is understanding; another brother, 17, is a mean jerk who constantly ridicules the boy about his fears.

The circus is in town, of course, and guess who doesn't want to go, but is bullied into it by his oldest brother. As fate would have it, three escaped mental patients kill three clowns, take their clothes and break into the home of the three boys when mom and dad are away.

It takes half the picture for the youngest kid to convince his two older brothers that the clowns aren't just in his imagination.

Even the police won't believe him. The amount of times the two older brothers just miss seeing the clowns is amazing and done with extraordinary skill by the filmmakers.

I wonder why this film isn't better known? I've seen worse become big hits at the box office. I'm not saying it's a forgotten masterpiece, but I don't think many will be disappointed if they give it a look.

Been looking for this for a long time. Super happy! This movie gives me the creeps. I have to admit, that as a man in his 30's, a high school and college jock - I don't like clowns.

It's really quite scary, especially if you can relate to the characters, which I could. Nah, it's not great cinema - just scary stuff.

So I bought this DVD because it's my girlfriends all time favorite horror movie. It has the option of selecting English when the main menu comes up to hear the movie in English, so if you buy this and get the movie and freak out why everything on the box is written in German, now ya know.

The movie was pretty good, it's got some pretty creepy elements to it. It really is a unique sort of horror film.

If you've seen Jeepers Creepers, which was made by the same guy who made this movie, then you'll be able to easily see that the guy has a thing for making stupid characters do irrational things.

Things like going in the direction of the big scary things, standing in an area for to long when you know you should get the hell out of dodge, ect lol things like that.

I've heard of some controversies surrounding this film from other reviews who gave it a 1 out of 5 simply because of that.

I don't support whatever happened, but I'm not here to review the man who made this movie or any of his actions, I am only reviewing the movie itself for what it is.

I'd say it's a solid movie to check out if your looking for creepy clown films. I really liked this film. It was hard to come by and when I found out why it made my stomach turn.

The acting isn't great, but that's not really as much of a problem in this type of movie as it would be in, say, a family drama. The fact of the matter is that clowns are a fairly common phobia among people, so exploiting that would've probably been considerably easier than this film attempted to.

Though, I will say, that I do sort of like the mythos they build to establish the clown suit and everything that's wrong with it.

But, to me, there just comes a point in the movie where I just zoned out and I was just waiting for it all to end. This movie goes something like 95 minutes or so and it still felt too long at that.

And of course it's not that it was long, it's just it was poorly paced. It just wasn't well-structured in my opinion.

There comes a time when Kent just disappeared and it's all about his wife's search for him and her trying to find a sacrifice for the demon in order for it to leave them alone.

These parts just really aren't interesting to me and they just slow down a movie that really needed all the help it could've gotten. I guess these moments are relevant to where they need to go, but it still feels like a hollow way to extend the film's length.

Another thing that bothers me about the movie is the make-up for the clown itself. At first it starts off really well actually.

The changes are subtle, but you do notice them and they keep building and building. Each time you see Kent, he looks worse. From his teeth sharpening, to his skin becoming completely white like the clown make-up.

When Kent reappears after the murder at the Chuck E. Cheese's, however, the subtle changes go out the window in favor for a full demonic clown.

Just full-on monster make-up. And the problem with that is the fact that you spent all this time seeing subtle changes in Kent that when you do get to the full-on demon clown, it feels a little bit detached from it all.

Like they're just killing a monster, they're not killing Kent, because there's nothing left that resembles Kent.

At least prior to this, he looked somewhat like himself and his wife was forced to kill him, it'd at least feel like there was something human beneath the clown.

As it ended up, there's nothing human there. So it's not really much of a dilemma. It is what it is. I did like the fact that the film did not shy away from killing children.

So many movies are so afraid to even come close to touching that, but this one does and it may end up being controversial, but at least they're not afraid of the consequences.

With that said, this movie still ends up being disappointment. It's not bad or anything, only average at best.

I'd say just wait until it hits a streaming service you're subscribed to. Jesse O Super Reviewer.

Jul 13, I have a recurring nightmare where I am unable to remove my clothes - either I can't take them off, or I take them off but there's layers upon never ending layers.

It might sound mild as nightmares goes, but it's up there with those anxious dreams people have where their teeth fall out.

Clown, in it's one effective moment, has the lead character unable to remove the clown suit he has put on to entertain his son at his birthday party.

This aside though, the film is dull, dreary, monotonous and takes itself way, way too seriously, with a pukey color scheme and listless direction.

Daniel P Super Reviewer. Mar 26, Clown suffered from bad acting but it was a truly refreshing horror film. Initially as a black comedy, the tone shifted to gorefest in the second half of the film.

The film is about a cursed clown costume which turns the wearer into a demonic monster which eats children.

A father accidentally found it and wore it for his son's birthday party but couldn't take it off. He slowly dwelt into madness and became a monster as his wife attempts to save him while protecting their son.

A clever film, not a lot of scare but comparably better than most clown horror films. The use of children was ambitious, children aren't easy to work with but most children seem to be doing well in the film.

The acting was kinda kitsch but the gore compensated it. Sylvester K Super Reviewer. See all Audience reviews. Karlsson: Kid, We have to kill your father.

This movie ended up being somewhat of a disappointment. I definitely liked the concept and all that, this real estate agent improvises and dresses up as a clown, after the one he hired canceled, for his son's birthday party.

He found this outfit in one of the houses that he is selling. Once the party is over, however, it comes out that he is unable to physically take off the costume or the wig, the wig later melding and becoming his own hair or something.

The longer he has the suit on the more he starts turning into this sort of demonic being that feeds on children. And I thought that was cool, particularly with the dynamic that this guy, Kent, has a son and his wife is also expecting.

So the film, should have, played with those concepts in an interesting way, but, and I don't know why, it just never came together as well as the concept might have come across on paper.

There's just something about this movie that feels a little off. The acting isn't great, but that's not really as much of a problem in this type of movie as it would be in, say, a family drama.

The love-him-or-hate-him filmmaker, best known for his ultra-gory-for-gore's-sake pictures like Hostel and The Green Inferno, doesn't exactly concern himself with story, content to simply smear the screen with as much blood and violence as is possible.

Clown isn't that. It's a bit gory, but not at Eli Roth standards, either for violence depicted or story ignored. Roth, who served as producer on the film, gives way on directorial duties to Jon Watts, the helmer behind one of 's best under-the-radar movies, Cop Car.

His Clown is more dark psychological study and creepy transformation film and less an intensely visually horrific film. It's moody and well constructed, stumbles through a more procedural second half but elevates beyond typical Roth drivel into a well-made chiller with very dark and, yes, occasionally very violent overtones.

Before he leaves the latest home he's listed for sale, he receives a call from Meg: the hired clown has canceled, and the children will be disappointed.

Fortune smiles on Jack when, in the house, he discovers an old, dusty trunk, inside of which is a clown outfit. He hurriedly puts it on, throws the multicolored wig on his head, and affixes the nose.

He's a hit. But when the party dust settles, he can't get the clothes off. Not the suit, not the hair, not the nose.

Even the makeup won't wash off. Attempting to pry it off only makes him bleed. His frustration gradually turns to anger, fear, and depression as the clothes grow ever more tight and fuse with his body, transforming him into something too horrific to imagine.

Interestingly, Clown was born from an idea that first appeared in a fake fan-made trailer on the Internet, claiming to be an upcoming Roth film.

Roth loved the concept, and the trailer, so much that he got behind making the movie. And good thing, too, because Clown turns out to be a rather good Horror film, one that's emotionally draining, endlessly creepy, extremely uncomfortable, eerie, and very weird.

It's original, too, something that's far too often absent from the Horror movies of today that feel like they're cranked out of a factory rather than carefully put together with new ideas and concepts at their hearts.

Clown impresses with the uniqueness of its central concept -- clothing that becomes, essentially, a cursed "second skin" -- as well as the exploration of the wearer's slow descent into self-pity, doubt, fear, darkness The film's most interesting question is whether Kent will continue to fight the transformation -- if he can, physically and emotionally -- or if he will succumb to the darkness, either by choice or by forces beyond his control.

Andy Powers is excellent in the role, never allowing the makeup and costume to do the work but instead finding a seriously dark side of himself throughout the entire ordeal as he undergoes a deeply and personally horrific trauma through no fault of his own.

The film does stumble through its second half when it becomes less the horrific, detailed look at Kent's transformation and deteriorating mental state and more a dark mystery film that follows his wife in search of answers.

Through this stretch, and on through the fairly straightforward ending, the movie loses some of its intensity and allure. Since I already knew that I wouldn't be seeing "Joker" on opening weekend, I figured I could watch a documentary about a real-life creepy clown opening opposite.

It doesn't disappoint, although at the same time it might not be entirely what you expected. It's very difficult to fully analyze this film without talking spoilers, but I'm going to try.

Do you remember all the real-life creepy clown sightings that were reported a little while ago? This film argues that they were inspired by the legend of Wrinkles the Clown, which is where this film becomes relevant and sort of timely.

Wrinkles is a guy in a creepy clown costume who lives in Florida and hires himself out to scare children. Parents call him to scare their misbehaving children straight, threatening them that if they don't start behaving that Wrinkles will come and get them.

What started as a guy finding something to do turned into a viral phenomenon after a video of him hiding under a little girl's bed.

It takes off from there. He's become a hero to some, a villain to others, and gets compared to other viral legends like Slenderman. I can't give too much away, but there's a twist to the story about two-thirds of the way through that adds a whole new dimension to the story, but at the same time does feel a bit like they may have been trolling the audience through the first part of the film, which while being part of the point, may still put some people off and likely result in some hate.

At the same time, it was pretty clear that this was where it was going if you just do a little research.

It's not quite as in depth as some might like. There's some touches on the history of clowning, why we react to them the way we do, and some interviews with psychologists and other clowns critical of Wrinkles activity.

There's also some short profiles of kids who are fans of Wrinkles. I think we might want to keep an eye on those kids. It gets deeper in the final third of the movie after the aforementioned twist, which causes the audience to turn a mirror on themselves and their preconceptions.

It's actually a great look at how urban legends take off and inspire others in unexpected ways. Worth a watch.
