View All Critic Reviews Aug 25, Critters 2 leans a bit more into the silliness of the series. Not to say that the original was a bleak take on gritty realism, but it did seem to take the danger a fraction more serious.
It's not something that works particularly for or against the sequel, it's just a slight change, one that makes sense even. Establishes a real inter-connectivity in the franchise that Critters would basically hold on to all the way up until that most recent one, which took some pretty wild liberties.

The story isn't the best, but it didn't feel like it needed to be anyways. It's enjoyable. Lee is killed and devoured by the Critters, causing Ug to slip into a deep depression and revert to his alien form.
The remaining people of the town devise a plan. With Ug polymorphed into a Critter, they lead the Critters to a burger shop in an attempt to blow them up, but that fails and The Critters re-emerge, joined together into a large ball, and begin heading to the church.
Just before they reach it, Charlie flies directly into them with Ug's spaceship, successfully destroying the Critters and seemingly sacrificing himself.
Ug subsequently takes on Charlie's facial features in honor of his bravery. The next day, as Brad departs, it is revealed that Charlie survived by using a parachute.
He stays on Earth, becoming sheriff of the town. Ug departs in a new spacecraft, still wearing the guise of Charlie.
Garris got the chance to direct after having worked for Steven Spielberg on the television series Amazing Stories as a screenwriter.
Garris initially turned down the offer to direct, but later accepted, citing that he was a big fan of the first movie and wanted to make the sequel a more scary film than the first.
The Chiodo Brothers , who served as special effects artists on the first film, returned to create the titular creatures, creating over 50 puppets for the film.
On July 20, , it was officially announced that all four films would receive their first-ever Blu-ray release. Scream Factory, a subsidiary of Shout!

Aug 04, Second entry in the Critters franchise a fun, entertaining sequel. Picking up where the first left off, Critters 2 is a good follow up to the first film.
The film is an enjoyable sequel, and considering that this film is a sequel, it succeeds where most sequels fail, capturing the essence of the original film.
I would say that Critters 2 is on par with the original. Fans of the first film will surely enjoy this film, as it keeps everything that made the first one good and throws it a few new ideas in the mix.
What you get is a film that builds on what made the first one terrific and makes it just as entertaining and fun.
If you've enjoyed the first film, then you're most likely going to enjoy this film. A terrific comedy horror film thats very entertaining from start to finish.
As far as horror sequels are concerned, Critters 2 does a great job at building on the success of the first and being just as entertaining as the first.
The film is a must see for fans of the series, but unfortunately is also the last good Critters sequel, after this entry, the Critters films started going downhill.
