Dieser Film ist bereits ab 18 Jahren freigegeben, wurde aber trotzdem um Szenen erleichtert. Da stimmt doch was nicht bei denen von der FSK! Diese waren aber offensichtlicher.
Diese waren exakt gekennzeichnet und mit dem Zusatz "Bearbeitete Version" versehen. Von "I saw the Devil" gibt es wohl mehrere Versionen.
Darunter eine Korea-Fassung und eine internationale Fassung. Welche hierzulande greift, ist schwierig herauszufinden. Ebenso schwer war es, die Laufzeiten der verschiedenen Versionen herauszufinden.

Auf jeden Fall andere, manche sagen bessere, als aus Hollywood. Und ganz ehrlich? Ich sah die um 11 Minuten geschnittene Version und obwohl ich diese Art der Zensur verurteile, bin ich in diesem Falle froh, dass mir einiges erspart geblieben ist nachzulesen unter Schnittberichte.

Good film although very gruesome, couldn't watch some scenes. Without spoiling the plot, the moral is, revenge never eases the pain, and often turns you into the very thing you seek to avenge.
Only let down was there wasn't no context to this psycho on the loose. Just seemed to randomly appear, as we never really get to know why and what started him on his murderous journey.

In it's simplest terms, this is a revenge story, and a haunting one at that. A story that ultimately conveys what we all know deep inside but would rather forget to satisfy our own demons; that is; revenge is ugly, and when the blood has been spilled, no victors remain.

Not this time. I was constantly surprised 'til the very end of this movie. There's lots of violence, employing everything from guns to fishing equipment.
Yes, fishing equipment. Some scenes are not for the squeamish. But the violence is not gratuitous. I particularly appreciated the martial arts scenes.
I should just call them fight scenes, since they are so realistic. The kicks, punches, etc. They are a bit clumsy, just as in real fights.
