Ma Atreyu riesce a prevalere: ricongiuntosi con Falkor, va in cerca della Torre d'Avorio per ammettere davanti all'Imperatrice di aver fallito la missione.

Bastian, inizialmente incredulo, non accetta che tutto sia vero ma quando Atreyu viene ucciso dal Nulla, realizza ogni cosa. In tal modo il Nulla viene distrutto e l'Imperatrice rimane in vita.

L'Imperatrice chiede a Bastian di ricreare quel mondo attraverso i suoi desideri e i suoi sogni. Tutte le creature fantastiche del film dovevano essere quindi costruite, partendo da piccoli modelli in argilla.

Sulla base di queste forme, sono state prodotte figure di gommapiuma, che hanno ricevuto un interno meccanico. Alla fine, ci sono voluti fino a 15 burattinai per muovere un singolo personaggio.

The effects have aged but this film is timeless, you forget how much Hollywood spells out everything in the first 20 mins, this film is storytelling and it's refreshing in this day and age.

The acting is spot on and that epic film song kicks things off in style. Never grew up with this film and It's a shame but you are never too old to discover a clever film like this.

You can see the filmmaking ability of Peterson with this limited budget, this is why the film is so successful in the end. Strong film and a classic with dark undertones.
